FAQ

What is a JXL file?

A .jxl file is a JPEG XL image, a newer format whose files are almost always smaller than PNG, even when no quality is lost. Some apps and older browsers can't open it yet, so converting it to PNG lets you use it anywhere.

Are my JXL files uploaded?

No. Your .jxl files are converted on your device and never leave it.

Is PNG lossless?

Yes. PNG keeps every pixel of the decoded image and keeps transparency, but its files are larger than JPG. Need smaller files? Use the JXL to JPG converter instead.

Can I convert many JXL files at once?

Yes. Drop or choose many .jxl files at once and download each one, or all of them as one ZIP. Very large images may hit memory limits on some devices.

Can I convert PNG to JXL?

Yes, with the JXL Convert home page converter, which turns PNG images into JPEG XL, almost always smaller than PNG. Set the quality to 100 for lossless: every pixel stays identical.
